FOUNDING EDITOR
· R L · powell [he :: they] is a queer & neurodivergent writer of poetry & prose. Over the years, they’ve moved through an array of unique professions, lived around the globe, and spent a long stint in academia.
At present, he's a former doctoral candidate in recovery, who transitioned into the MFA program in Literature and Writing at the Bennington Writing Seminars. He holds a BA (Hons) and MA in English literature and 20th century critical theory—awarded by universities that think highly of their reputations. For the past number of years, they’ve taught rhetoric, aspects of theory, & American lit to undergraduates. Their research interests have focused on American modernism, the history & philosophy of science, & and inquiry into what they eventually designated as the phenomenology of boredom. He parted ways with his doctoral program in good standing, ABD.
· R L · s work appears, or is forthcoming, in Heaven Spec, The Inflectionist Review, Impossible Archetype, the Eunoia Review, the Argyle, and junq magazine. APROSEXIA LIT is his first publication in the role of editor-in-chief.
Although he's not fond of the baggage that comes along with the term, · R L · does consider himself to be more than a little mad. They created APROSEXIA LIT to address what they see as a lack of opportunity for the cognitively divergent to express what life pushed to the margins often entails—the beautiful strangeness that comes form living an uncommon life, perceiving and feeling in utterly unique ways, and the process of beating remarkable paths through day-to-day existence in order to survive.
· R L · loves movies about literal and figurative space, and art that emerges from the process of dreaming. He's drawn to the overbearing themes of sex, love, and death; but also cookies. Cookies are exceptionally nice. They would also like to remind you that you’re doing a magnificent job of being yourself.
